GAME CHANGING CHILDCARE
Meaghan Franks, founder of Sport Sitters,
provides opportunities for female athletes
Meaghan Franks knows firsthand the importance of babysitters in the life of a child.
"We had an incredible athlete from the Arizona State University women's soccer team watch our kids - unlike any babysitter we had before," Franks says. "If she was busy, she recommended fellow Division 1 female student athletes to fill in. It became apparent that these women carried themselves with incredible discipline, confidence and leadership - qualities I wanted my children to grow up around."
Franks - who researched children's brain development at the National Institutes of Health before becoming a stay-at-home mom - envisioned a platform where parents could book high-quality childcare from elite college-level athletes. But the idea was born as much out of frustration as it was inspiration - in recent years, as Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) laws changed for student athletes, endorsements and sponsorships flooded towards men's sports.
That's where Sport Sitters comes in. The app, which launched in the App Store last April, is the first-ever NIL opportunity exclusive to women, allowing female athletes to establish a flexible income stream that isn't reliant on social media followers, aesthetics, or the marketability of their sport.
“On the platform, female athletes earn an average of $120 per job.
By working just three jobs per week, an athlete can earn nearly $20,000 a year. Additionally, a portion of each job completed is donated to their team, raising $900 for women’s athletics.”
With plans to expand from Arizona State University to other schools in Arizona and across the country, Franks knows that Sport Sitters will have an incredible ripple effect - on individual athletes, on the future of women's athletics, and in the lives of countless children.
"Parent’s aren’t just getting a sitter, they’re gaining an active, engaged and inspiring role model - and that’s no exaggeration.
These are Olympic Trial qualifiers, Team USA representatives and Team Captains. Who wouldn’t want that quality of person in charge of their kids when they slip away for a date night? And this connection instills the belief that they [children] too, can accomplish what their idols have achieved.”

Sun Angel Collective and Sport Sitters Team Up to Empower ASU Female Student- Athletes and Families
Tempe, AZ – February 27, 2025 – The Sun Angel Collective is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Sport Sitters, revolutionizing the way Arizona families support Arizona State University (ASU) female student-athletes. This groundbreaking technology platform enables families to book female Division I student-athletes for active, play-based childcare through its mobile app. This collaboration provides ASU student-athletes with meaningful employment while directly benefiting their teams through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
Sport Sitters offers families a unique childcare solution by connecting them with trusted ASU athletes who prioritize playtime over screen time. When families book a Sport Sitter, a portion of the proceeds go back to supporting that athlete’s team through NIL opportunities facilitated by the Sun Angel Collective. This means families are not only receiving top-notch childcare but are also contributing to the advancement of women’s collegiate athletics.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Sun Angel Collective to expand opportunities for Arizona State University student-athletes,” said Meaghan Franks, Founder of Sport Sitters. “This partnership allows us to connect athletes with families in a way that
benefits everyone—children receive active, engaging care, and athletes gain financial support while empowering their teams. When a parent books a Sport Sitter, they’re not just securing a babysitter, they’re immersing their kids in an environment where hard work, dedication, and confidence are the norm.”
ASU soccer player and Sport Sitter Olivia Coleman shared her excitement for this collaboration. “Being part of Sport Sitters has allowed me to balance my passion for sports with a flexible job that truly impacts kids' lives. I love inspiring children throughout our community to build confidence, independence, and the drive to be their best at something they love while also contributing to my team's success through NIL support."
Brittani Willett, President of Sun Angel Collective, emphasized the impact of this partnership on ASU athletes and their teams. “We are always looking for ways to support ASU student-athletes beyond their sport, and Sport Sitters aligns perfectly with our mission. This partnership not only provides financial opportunities for these athletes but also ensures their teams receive critical funding, strengthening women’s athletics at ASU.”
